SIB Report

I went to the Seattle International Beer Festival on Saturday the 30th of June. I think I tried eleven 4oz samples of beer. Here's some beers I enjoyed.

De Proef Reserve Signature Ale w/ Tomme Arthur: Blonde-ish. Loads of fruit! Tangerine, pinapple, pie cherry? Wow! Interesting marriage of newer American Hop Varieties and wild yeast and saccharomyces.

J.W. Lee's Harvest Ale Lagavulin barrel-aged: Whoah! A perfect marriage for Mr. Lee's. It's the appropriate amount of intensity from the scotch barrels to balance the usual Lee's charactor of dried fruits and honey. I'm sure our new couple will be very happy for years to come! Oh, and you got to compare it to the Lee's '06 on draft!

Thiriez Blonde: Saison, 55 IBUs. Massive grassy attack, great hop palate, and lingering dryness. So green that it could be dryhopped... or sponsor the Green Lantern Variety Hour!

I met up with The Beer Retard at SIB. I'm glad I did. We had boat loads of fun. Eventually we made to the Stumbling Monk where I had a La Folie. Acidic-ariffic! Nearly literally stumbled down the hill in time to catch the 9 o'clock boat. Exhale.
